”THE PIGEON PAVILION”
2026
Giardini, Venice, Italy
”The Pigeon Pavilion” is a project dedicated to one of the city’s most familiar yet most overlooked inhabitants: the pigeon.
Neither truly wild nor fully domestic, neither celebrated nor welcome, pigeons exist between categories. As constant companions to urban life, they are everywhere and often unnoticed. It seemed only fair that they should finally receive a pavilion of their own.
Presented at the Art Biennale in the Giardini, Venice, the project takes the form of a bird sized pavilion situated among the human scale national pavilions. All visitors are warmly invited to see the exhibition, and any breadcrumbs left for the pavilion’s flying visitors would be greatly appreciated!
This year's presentation explores pigeon desire. At its center, a sculpture transforms a discarded apple core into a quiet monument to longing, survival, and resilience. The work reflects on what remains after something has been consumed, abandoned, or forgotten, asking whether value can persist beyond usefulness.
